The CFA Manitoba Initiative

The Seine River region was recognized as a Welcoming Francophone Community by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in 2019, in collaboration with Réseaux en immigration francophone (RIF).

There are 14 WFCs across Canada, including the Seine River region.

A Welcoming Francophone Community is a place with strong socio-economic assets where residents actively welcome immigrants and support their inclusion, integration, and full participation in local francophone life.

The initiative is funded by the Canadian government and planned and managed by community members that come together under a Community Advisory Board (CAB).

The goal is to ensure the successful integration of immigrants, foster a sense of belonging, and build strong connections between newcomers and the host community.

Like other WFCs across Canada, the Seine River region has developed a comprehensive action plan to provide high-quality support services for newcomers choosing to settle there.
